We believe that Christian education means equipping individuals for better service to their Creator and others, giving special attention to the academic skills valued by our culture.
Since the main responsibility for the education of children lies with their own parents (Deut. 6:7, Prov. 22:6. | Tim. 5:14, Eph. 6:4) we see our role as Christian educators as fellow-laborers training young disciples of Jesus Christ from the earliest age possible.
We are here to help parents develop their children’s physical, social, moral and spiritual skills using a Biblical worldview as a firm foundation. FourteenSix Academy is based on 17 years of successful experience using the traditional / homeschool hybrid model pioneered by our home church, Foothills Christian Church in El Cajon, California.

Why choose the hybrid model?
FourteenSix Christian Academy offers grades K-8 based on the unique hybrid school concept for families who struggle with this education dilemma in our culture:
How can parents provide the proven superiority of a home-school education or a private education without breaking the bank?
Many parents would love to home-school but cannot makes ends meet on a single income. Some parents have attempted to home-school only to find they may not know exactly HOW to home-school. Other parents have discovered they are in need of outside help with home-school but don’t know where to turn. Finally, some parents simply don’t feel gifted in the area of education, as well as find an affordable Christian school with a Biblical worldview.
These serious concerns led to the hybrid school concept. FourteenSix Christian Academy provides three days of classical classroom instruction (Tuesday through Thursday) combined with two days of home-school (Mondays and Fridays). This hybrid model combines the best elements of Christian classroom-based instruction with the benefits of a home education at a price approximately 1/3 the cost of a traditional, five day per week Christian education. Parents are now able to enjoy part-time home education in a manner that isn’t overwhelming with strong support from dedicated teachers trained in a Biblical world-view.
In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
Our Mission – Strengthening Faith & Making Disciples
If you’re paying attention to what’s happening in America today, you’re probably aware of the drastic decline in morality and the increasing challenges our young ones face daily – especially in the public school system.
At FourteenSix Christian Academy, it is our mission to form a strong Biblical worldview in the young children we have the privilege to disciple so that they will personally own and hold onto their faith in the midst of a culture that rejects God and the truth of His Word.
Why does FCA place a strong focus on Apologetics?
It has been reported that almost 70 percent of our young people do not return to their church after attending a secular universtiy. If however, young people and others read this book by Patrick Marks, the result can be dramatically different. This book exposes the weaknesses and fallacies of Evolution theory and at the same time provides a wealth of scientific evidence that supports Creation. – Duane T. Gish, Ph.D, Senior Vice President Emeritus, Institute for Creation Research
Perhaps the most destructive idea that can enter a young person’s mind is the idea that there is no reason or purpose for their life. It is dangerous to believe life is a simple accident of circumstance and that there is no destiny or purpose to live for and discover.
This, however, is exactly what young people are told over and over every day in our public schools and universities. They are taught that they are the products of purposeless Evolution in a meaningless universe and no other views are allowed to be considered. Why? Why are these educational institutions so afraid of a view other than Evolution?
The result of this indoctrination surrounds us for all to see. Young people are confused, aimless, apathetic, lacking in self-restraint, and often self-destructive. And all this results in believing something that is not true.

As a public school educator it has been my task to take complicated scientific concepts and repackage them in a manner the average 8th grader can understand.

Why choose a Classical Christian Education?
As Christians, our greatest privilege, purpose, and duty are to glorify and obey our Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Holy Word. The chief reason behind our mission of building Christian leaders through a quality Christian education is to glorify our Lord; obeying His instructions given to us throughout the Bible:
Ephesians 6:4 – “Do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
II Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s Will is – His good, pleasing and perfect Will.”
God’s Word directs us to train our children in the instruction of the Lord. Indeed, children are God’s homework assignment to parents!
Christian schools exist, not primarily as a rescue, protection, or isolation strategy; but rather as a teaching and training endeavor that strives to educate young people in light of God’s Word and in light of eternity.
What is the Classical Model of teaching?
In raising followers of Jesus Christ, we have a greater purpose in education than simply gathering knowledge. The more we learn in every subject, the more we understand about our God and His work.
Your children are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, not in the image of a machine or conveyor belt school system. We are not only entrusted with your child’s education and safety but, more importantly, we are entrusted with cultivating the souls of your children and equipping them to become devoted followers of Christ with a strong Biblical worldview. Each child is exceptional, with unique strengths and weaknesses and deserves the personal attention and love that you, as a parent, would provide them at home. FourteenSix Christian Academy is more than your average private school. We serve as an extension of your family, devoted to Biblical mentorship through a hybrid classical education.
The Christian worldview shines through each subject, enabling students to see God’s hand in science, math, history, literature, fine arts, and language. Our goal is to disciple, train up, and cultivate a love of learning in students to think right so that they will make right decisions for themselves, their families, and their world.
Our discipleship-based classical academic model focuses on:
- Emphasis on truth, with God’s Word as the standard
- Biblical worldview focus in all subject matter
- Hands-on science and chemistry through Apologetics
- Focus on the importance of logic, reasoning, and proper language in communicating truth
- Cultivate a love of learning through the classical model of teaching
- Math memory and mastery K-8
A classical education takes advantage of how we were created by God to learn – by repetition in three stages called the Trivium:
- Grammar Stage: Memory of vocabulary and basic facts related to a subject through rhymes, songs, chants, and hand motions to drive solid pegs of knowledge that can hold a heavy amount of information in the dialectic stage.
- Dialectic Stage: Ability to sort, analyze, and understand the memorized vocabulary and facts related to a subject through logic and reasoning.
- Rhetoric Stage: Application of understanding in the form of formulating original ideas, delivering original speeches, problem-solving and teaching others the subject matter with confidence.
You can allow your child to be in the world but not of the world.
John 17:15 (NKJV) I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.
Many homeschool parents are motivated to take their children out of the public school system because that system is academically breaking down. Even with state standards and national testing it is clear that we are falling behind in academic rigor. Other homeschool parents believe the public system fosters an environment that promotes social values contrary to the Biblical worldview.
FourteenSix Christian Academy is a ministry of FourteenSix Christian Church in Surprise, Arizona founded in February, 2014. The facility is owned by the church and Pastor Patrick Marks is the superintendent of the Academy. The teachers and staff at FourteenSix Academy are in reality employees of the church. Our teachers may or may not have credentials from the State of Arizona. All have a great deal of experience and we believe God has gifted and appointed our staff to team with parents to successfully educate their children. The Elder board at FourteenSix Church serves as the FourteenSix Christian Academy Board of Directors as well.
FourteenSix Christian Church began as a church plant from Foothills Christian Church based in El Cajon, California. We first opened our doors in February, 2004 and have grown from being a mobile church meeting in school gymnasiums with a handful of members; to a vigilant, growing church with over 200 attendees meeting in our permanent 10,500 square foot facility. Our vision as a church, from our foundation, has included a desire to see a Christian school as part of our ministry. It is only recently, since we purchased our facility, that we have been able to see the realization of this vision.
This model has been a fantastic success at our mother church in California. Foothills began their school in 1996 and the response was so great, attendance at the elementary school doubled in the first year. By the second year, a high school, and as of 2014 Foothills has expanded to offer K-12 education at three facilities. Foothills has graciously shared all of their wisdom and experience gained since 1996 to help FourteenSix Christian Academy open its doors. We are not reinventing the concept but duplicating the successful model pioneered by Foothills.
